Page speed can be measured against a published target. Google's Core Web Vitals count a page as "good" when, at the 75th percentile of real page loads, Largest Contentful Paint is 2.5 seconds or less, Interaction to Next Paint is 200 milliseconds or less, and Cumulative Layout Shift is 0.1 or less. On a database-driven page, possible causes of a miss include slow queries, oversized images and layout that shifts as content loads. Lab tests during development can catch those early; field data from real visitors shows whether the live site meets the thresholds.
