Consulting
Independent technical reviews and hands-on help for systems, databases, and projects that need a second look.
Is this system secure? Why is it slow? Can this project be finished? What exactly should we build next? IKRC's consulting covers each of those questions:
- Third-party reviews of an application, database, or infrastructure for security, performance, or maintainability, including code written by another vendor.
- Help with a project that has stalled or keeps missing its targets: reading the code and the backlog, and saying plainly what can be kept.
- Specifications for new systems, written so they can go out for bids or be built in-house.
- Technical review against a compliance framework, checking how the system stores and handles the data that framework covers. Certification itself comes from your auditor or assessor.
In a SQL Server performance review, for example, the environment matters. Query Store records query history, execution plans, and runtime statistics. It is on by default for new databases starting with SQL Server 2022 and in Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance, but not in SQL Server 2016, 2017, or 2019. On an older server, part of the review is turning it on and letting it collect a baseline, so that later regressions show up with evidence.
