Amazon AWS (Cloud)
Planning, building, and running applications on Amazon Web Services, including the configuration work that stays on your side of the shared responsibility model.
Amazon Web Services offers a broad set of compute, storage, database, analytics, application, and deployment services. They run web and mobile applications, data processing and warehousing, storage, archive, and much else. Whether moving a system to AWS lowers its cost depends on the workload and how it is sized, so that is one of the first things we work out.
A detail that affects your staffing is what AWS leaves to you. Under the AWS shared responsibility model, AWS protects the infrastructure that runs its services. On EC2, the customer manages the guest operating system including security patches, the security group firewall on each instance, and any software installed on it. Managed services such as S3 or DynamoDB shorten that list, but managing your data, its encryption options, and IAM permissions stays with you. IKRC builds and configures those pieces and documents who maintains each one after launch.
